About Aaron
Aaron L. Cook founded Cook Attorneys when he left the Harrisonburg prosecutor’s office in 2000, with a mission to provide dedicated, personalized legal defense to individuals in the Harrisonburg and Shenandoah Valley communities. A 1994 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Mr. Cook represents a limited number of clients facing serious felony charges both in federal and state courts throughout western Virginia.
In addition to his felony practice, Mr. Cook occasionally accepts significant misdemeanor cases as well. Mr. Cook is known for his work at the intersection of immigration law and criminal defense, advising clients and attorneys of the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
Mr. Cook is currently President of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and serves as an appointed member of the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission and sits on the Board of Governors for the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. Mr. Cook is also a recipient of “2023 Change Agent of the Year” award presented by Gemeinschaft Home for his contribution to the local restorative justice community.
